Putting Simon

in the spotlight

When you arrive at Pitcheroak Golf Course, the greens are immaculate, the fairways are in perfect condition and everything looks neatly manicured.

What you don’t perhaps see is the superstar behind the scenes who keeps our course in such great condition. Step up Head Greenkeeper and all round superstar Simon Colebrook!

Simon started his greenkeeping career as an apprentice in 1998 working at The Abbey Hotel Golf and Country Club, also in Redditch. He was then taken on as a full-time assistant greenkeeper and stayed at the Abbey until 2005.

In 2005 he applied to work for Redditch Borough Council and was asked to help out here at Pitcheroak Golf Course. 18 years later Simon’s passion for the course has kept him here.

“I’m so proud to be part of the team here at Pitcheroak. We have a really great membership, the team have a strong focus to provide the highest standards and we love what we do. Over the last few years we have gone from strength to strength with a boost in our membership numbers, extra investment into the course and the club house, and new team members joining us.”

“It has taken a lot of self-motivation and hard work over the years that I have been here to keep improving the course, and it’s very rewarding when members approach me to tell me that the course is in the best condition it’s ever been in.”

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Simon for all his continued hard work…what you do is noticed everyday by us all.
